NextGen PAC mobilized thousands of young voters to elect the Democratic State House candidates for New Hampshire and Pennsylvania special election
Washington, D.C. — Today, NextGen PAC is celebrating the victory of Hal Rafter for New Hampshire House of Representatives District Rockingham 1 and Lindsay Powell for Pennsylvania’s 21st House of Representatives District. Ahead of these September special elections, NextGen PAC leveraged its grassroots organizing infrastructure in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania to mobilize young voters to defeat their Republican challengers James Guzofski and Erin Connolly Autenreith. NextGen PAC sent thousands of texts to young voters before the special elections to help mobilize this critical voting bloc.
It is clear that without the support of young voters, these crucial State House seats likely would have gone to Republicans. Throughout the races, young voters stepped up to hold Republican candidate James Guzofsk and Erin Connolly Autenreith accountable for their dangerous position on abortion rights, voting rights, economic and climate justice, and LGBTQ equality. Moving forward, it’s evident that young voters will continue to fight against extremist MAGA Republicans and demand an inclusive vision of the future. NextGen’s youth movement helped deliver this historic victory.
“NextGen is excited to celebrate the youth-led victory of Hal Rafter and Lindsay Powell for their respective State House seats,” NextGen PAC President and Executive Director Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “From abortion rights to economic justice, young people across the state resoundingly support progressive candidates and initiatives that promise equity and justice for all. Leading up to the special election, NextGen PAC connected with thousands of voters across New Hampshire and Pennsylvania to make sure they had a plan to show up to fight for the issues they care about. Young voter’s message is clear – extremist Republicans and their values do not represent our vision for the future.”
In 2020, NextGen PAC helped mobilize 1 in every 9 young voters who cast a ballot, leading to the largest youth voter turnout in history. Leading up to 2024, NextGen PAC is focused on empowering young voters to fight for a better future, this includes endorsing progressive candidates and ballot measures, among other activities.
