NextGen PAC Endorses Slate of Progressive Candidates Ahead of 2022 Midterm Elections

Progressive youth vote organization endorses 15 Democratic candidates in seven key battleground states

Austin, TX — Today, NextGen PAC announced its first wave of endorsements for a series of progressive candidates in the key battleground states of Texas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Arizona, and Nevada ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. These endorsements are a critical part of NextGen PAC’s efforts to mobilize millions of young voters across the country in support of Democratic candidates in this election cycle and beyond.

Today’s endorsements include: Arizona incumbent Senator Mark Kelly, North Carolina Senate nominee Cheri Beasley, New Hampshire Senate incumbent Maggie Hassan, Nevada Senate incumbent Catherine Cortez-Masto, and Pennsylvania’s Senate nominee John Fetterman.

Additional endorsements include gubernatorial candidates Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), Steve Sisolak (D-NV), Josh Shapiro (D-PA) and lieutenant gubernatorial candidates Austin Davis (D-PA) and Mike Collier (D-TX). NextGen also endorsed attorney general candidates Dana Nessel (D-MI), Aaron Ford (D-NV), and Rochelle Garza (D-TX), as well as Michigan Secretary of State incumbent Jocelyn Benson

“Young people have tirelessly mobilized to achieve huge progressive wins in recent years, and it is more essential than ever to keep electing candidates who will fight for our values and protect us from rollbacks from MAGA Republicans,” NextGen PAC President and Executive Director Cristina Tzinzún Ramirez said. “We are dedicated to investing in efforts to help elect these  candidates and fighting against the extreme agenda of the GOP, which would end access to abortion, block gun safety legislation, reverse climate protections, and endanger the LGBTQIA+ community. Every seat is critical in the upcoming election and we will use our collective power to elect lawmakers that truly reflect and represent the most diverse generation in American history.”

In 2020, NextGen mobilized 1 in 9 young voters to the polls and propelled Democrats across the country to victory. Activating voters age 18-35 is exceptionally important as over 70 million Americans in this group are now eligible to vote, more than any other age group. NextGen is committed to growing the political voice of young Americans and is connecting with people online and on the ground to make sure they engage in elections and elect representatives that fight for and reflect their values. NextGen PAC’s historic mobilization efforts for 2022 are based in Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Nevada and North Carolina.
