Progressive youth vote organization endorses Democratic candidates in Nevada
Las Vegas, NV — Today, NextGen PAC endorsed incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto for Senate. Ahead of the election this November, NextGen PAC will leverage its grassroots organizing infrastructure in Nevada by mobilizing thousands of young voters to defeat Republican challenger Adam Laxalt. Additional endorsements in the Silver state include incumbent Governor Steve Sisolak and incumbent Attorney General Aaron Ford.
NextGen PAC’s endorsement of Cortez Masto is due to her commitment to stronger gun safety legislation, climate justice, and abortion access and care. Throughout her time in Congress, Senator Cortez Masto has fought hard for Nevadans’ civil liberties and young voters know that she is a leader who will truly represent and reflect their vision for the future. NextGen PAC has also endorsed Steve Sisolak for Governor and Aaron Ford for Attorney General due to similar stances on key issues. Re-electing these lawmakers will protect Nevada from GOP rollback and will create a more just and equitable state for decades to come.
“We are proud to support Catherine Cortez Masto, Steve Sisolak, and Aaron Ford for re-election, given their relentless commitment to paving a better future for young Nevadans,” NextGen PAC President and Executive Director Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “They represent the values of young people in Nevada, and we can count on them to listen to the largest and most diverse generation in American history. Re-electing these candidates and defeating far-right MAGA Republicans is essential to building a better future for young people in Nevada. We’re excited to use our power and strength in numbers to propel these candidates past the finish line in November.”
To keep Nevada blue, NextGen PAC will invest in organizers in communities and on campuses across the state to ensure young people are ready to turn out for Democrats up and down the ballot. In 2020, NextGen contributed to the highest youth voter turnout in history, reaching more than 10.5 million people across nearly a dozen states and motivating nearly 4.7 million to cast ballots in the November election. Across the country in 2020, NextGen reached one in every nine voters under 35 who cast a ballot.
